London Weekend Getaway: Mulled Wine & Christmas Lights

After being away for almost two years, I decided to impulsively buy a ticket and spend a weekend visiting my friends in London. And what better time to do it than Christmas time?

I booked a British Airways flight for €80 from Madrid to Heathrow (closest airport to the city center) which was very cheap, usually, the affordable flights are all to Stanstead (very far from London).

The capital during Christmas almost makes it worth the freezing cold sunny days or the rainy and grey weather it’s known for. The beautiful light displays around Carnaby will catch anyone’s eyes and leave them in awe. We wandered around the streets admiring the lit up streets, but more importantly, the black Friday sales!

I enjoyed the time with my high school friends that are all studying in London. They know all the coolest and hip spots, so I knew the weekend was going to be great. Both with food and cool places. (There will be another post about all the restaurants – including the brunch place we started of the trip with.

London Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is another of the main attractions in the city during winter. We took the tube to Hyde Park and enjoyed the rides and food. Mulled wine and mulled cider are the classic winter drinks that will keep you warm and toasty, as we walked around the park. There were rides from fun fare games to looping roller coasters that actually looked very scary.

Check out the Winter Wonderland attractions here.

After having a great time, we finished the night with hot dogs, chocolates, and strawberries. Just what one needs on vacation. We then took an Uber back to the house and ended the night early, ready for another long day of exploring.

Till the next adventure!
